Time to relocate

With the chicken coup almost finished and the chicks growing so quickly and getting cramped, we decided it was time to move them to their new home. Eric worked hard all day getting things ready. It was a big event for the kids and the chicks. Zig and Eric carried the cage from the barn to the coup and the girls and Rollin then took the chicks out and put them under the lights. Sela released the first chick since she has taken care of them this whole month. She's done a great job and always feeds them before she eats her own breakfast. Now feeding will be so much easier and will only have to be done once a week. We have huge food and water containers to make it as low maintenance as possible.

Unfortunately, it was pretty dark in the coop so I had to stop the video when they went inside. The last part of the coop still yet to be done is getting electricity. It's coming. The chicks didn't quite know what to do with so much space when we first let them out. They were so funny to watch. This morning Sela went to check on them first thing and she said they were having a good ole' time jumping all around. They named a few more. I think so far we have Crystal (the queen, and Nina's special chick), Brownie (Sela's favorite), Lulu, Lily, Blackie, Snowball, and Tiffany.

Sorry about all the spots on the pictures, it was so dusty in the coop once the kids started kicking all the wood shavings around.
