Egg Delivery on Bikes

Sela has decided it is more fun to deliver eggs on her bicycle. I had my doubts about this idea, given the fact that several gravel roads and lots of bumps are involved, but so far, so good! I help her wrap the egg cartons in towels and off she goes. She takes two or three dozen at a time and then comes home to load up again.

This week one of her customers, Ann, sent her home with a big plate of cookies. Oh, the joy! Somehow she managed to get the plate of cookies in her backpack and not one was broken when she got home. This sure beats the time she and Nina had the great idea to climb over the 10 foot tall back fence with egg cartons in hand (a shortcut) to deliver to our neighbors, the Elops. That final jump down resulted in lots of broken eggs, and even more tears!

Saturday was all about Rollin. His birthday celebration stretched out all week long, a little bit each day. Saturday Zig took the kids to the Burke Museum for Dino Day! Evan fell asleep just as we were getting ready to go so I stayed home with him and we both napped. Not so bad as I get my fair share of dinosaurs on a daily basis. I had taken Rollin to breakfast early that morning to a little bakery to pick out anything he wanted, lucky boy. He walked into Hillcrest Bakery a man on a mission. And he went big, let me tell you! I didn't really have a chocolate creme pie looking thing in mind for breakfast, but hey, you only turn 4 once!

Zig and the kids came back mid-afternoon and Rollin and the girls went straight to playing outside the rest of the day. Sophia and Emma came over and the girls played with Spotty and Phoebe for awhile. Sela has taken to singing Spotty bedtime lullabies lately and once she begins her song (usually Puff the Magic Dragon), Spotty comes up and gets in her lap.

Zig planted more flowers after an early run to Molbaks (he can't stay away!). I sat in the garden and talked to him while he planted because I have this little baby who currently falls totally apart if I walk 2 feet away, or heaven forbid, set him down. Love you, Evan.

Zig and I went to dinner at Chantanee (Thai) on Saturday night and after a little stop by Nordstrom to look at shoes (I like to pick out my own birthday presents) we came home and watched this new Coco Chanel movie which was so interesting. I thought I might be too tired for subtitles, but no way, I was fascinated. I hit the sack before midnight and I think Zig, intrigued by the movie, stayed up reading about Chanel for a couple more hours.

Sunday, I volunteered to substitute for the Sunbeams, that's how much I miss being in Primary! Rollin was in my class and we had so much fun learning all about how we are thankful to Heavenly Father for water! We played games, sang songs, they danced, we drank water, looked at pictures of beautiful water scenes from all over the world, we drew pictures of water, talked about how Jesus was baptized in water and how he walked on water, how they swim in water, and on and on. I even think I am more thankful for water now :) I love how sweet and simple those Sunbeam lessons are!

Rollin turned 4 on March 2nd!

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the rest of his birthday interview to load. But I'll keep working on it. He has been looking forward to this birthday for 364 days it seems. He shares a birthday with Dr. Seuss so his birthday breakfast was green eggs and ham presented to him on a new dinosaur placemat. He must have thanked and hugged me a dozen times. He wasn't too crazy about the eggs however.

Unfortunately, I have been battling a horrible sore throat and cough. I wake up exhausted and all around me see things piling up. Oh there's so much to be done this time of year. I need another break, but I paid dearly for our nice week in San Diego. 2 weeks of sickness afterwards, both Evan and I. Love that recycled airplane air. Yesterday, I couldn't even swallow so when I saw Zig driving up the driveway I headed straight to bed. And boy did I need it. But this post is about Rollin. Not my pity party!

Four years ago I had no idea how much I would love having a little boy. I mean no clue. I could only really imagine raising girls, because that's what I knew. And boy was I in for an education and a surprise! I adore my boys more that I ever dreamed possible. They are so loving and a wee bit less dramatic, although Rollin has learned a few tricks from his sisters :) That and the fact that he can sing the words to every Taylor Swift song. His exuberance, courage, silliness, curiosity, gentleness, sweetness, and love of adventure are just a few of the things I love about Rollin. I love our conversations, his zest for life, and his love for his friends. He is most interested in dinosaurs, puzzles, his bike, crazy stunts, flips on the bed and trampoline, sneaking chocolate, being mommy's sous chef with his big green salad knife, doing anything with Dad, begging for dinosaur movies, begging for trips to Target to acquire more dinosaurs, snuggling with Mom and Dad, and his most frequent request...going to library for more dino books! He is a dinosaur fanatic so imagine his sheer delight when Zig brought him home a dinosaur cupcake from Trophy Cupcakes.
